Few remarks: most of below download links is not valid anymore. Sap store
site at store.sap.com is now defunct. It
was moved to another URL (partner.store.sap.com)
but it is only available for SAP partners.
A long time ago (yes it was Nov of 2007 ~ 7 years!) I posted blog about SAP software
available for download. The post still live here:
miniSAP
– where to download it?
At that time we called trial version of SAP as miniSAP. Times passed by and now
we call it Developer or Developer Edition or Trial version of the same. Also
platform where the software is downloadable has changes. SAP -
specially SCN team started to migrate the downloads from SCN it self (scn.sap.com/community/downloads)
to SAP store: store.sap.com. The
downloads are part of Database and Technology department of the
store.
From NetWeaver based
on ABAP stack perspective currently there are following three versions
available for the developers:
SCN
- SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.02 SP6 64-bit Developer Edition
SCN
- SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.02 SP6 32-bit Trial Version
SCN
- SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.03 64-bit Trial
So all my dear SAP developers rejoyce!
Software download is back!

Something that I would appreciate a lot is an updated version of the guide on how to enable BW in one of these new downloads. I have tried a few times with no success... Can you at least tell if it's possible?
What do you need to known precisely? BW is working in "miniSAP" versions of NetWeaver like 7.03 one.
cheers,
sapper
is it? A previous version I downloaded refused to run RSA1 after executing the steps on your tutorial. If you say it's working out-of-the-box now, then I'll download one of these again and try to install it. Any special instructions to make it work?
yes, I tried 7.03 approx half a year ago and it worked. As far as I remember you just need to create log.sys name as per http://sapport.blogspot.sk/2007/12/sap-nw-2004s-abap-minisap-part-2-bw.html
Is SAP NetWeaver Gateway included in one of the downloads?
SAP NetWeaver Gateway is not listed in my list but it is also available in SAP store:

Hi there.
Does anyone know if there is a MiniSap version of 740 besides the versions available as virtual appliances in conjunction with AWS ?
Thanks in advance …
hi belSap,
no there is no on premise trial version of 74. Only cloud based versions are available.

Mmm …
So, the only way to play with all the nice new functionality (like UI5, ABAP in Eclipse, HANA Dev … etc.) is to go the virtual appliance / AWS route ?
Well, for UI5 and ABAP in Eclipse you can use trial version "SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.03 SP04 Trial" which is available as on-premise deployment. I'm blogging about how to install it here:
http://sapport.blogspot.sk/2014/08/how-to-install-sap-netweaver.html
But for HANA related development and all new ABAP features available in 74 you need to go to cloud e.g. AWS. Unfortunately this is status quo and seems SAP is not going to change it any time soon.

sapper
Gr8, thanks for the guidance, much appreciated!

Hi,
A good blog indeed!!
I have downloaded ABAP 32 bit trial version.
Want to know how to set up BI along with this ABAP server.
Do i need to download BI server seperately. Is it available? I have searched the net but unable to find out. Would you like to suggest
Regards!!
Hi Aparajit,
not sure which trial version of SAP ABAP server you downloaded. There are couple of 32bit versions available. In most of them BI (better to call it BW) functionality is available so no need to have separate BW server. Also there is no trial BW server from SAP.
Once you have installed your ABAP trial follow http://sapport.blogspot.sk/2007/12/sap-nw-2004s-abap-minisap-part-2-bw.html where activities needed to enable BW functions are described.

Hi,
Thank you so much for your reply.
I have downloaded " SCN - SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.02 SP6 32-bit Trial Version "
Actually I am a SAP BW consultant, and I need to learn ABAP, so I thought to set up SAP ABAP server in my laptop and also enable SAP BW if possible. I already have the SAP GUI 7.02 for SAP BI/BW installed in the system which i used to connect BI server IDES.
But thank you so much for your reply. I will follow that blog after installing the ABAP server and make you know about it.
Regards,
Aparajit
What are the minimum system requirements for installing SAP on my laptop?
I want to practice ABAP in my laptop.
Hi Arun,
depends on which SAP system you mean. These trial systems (not full blown system like IDES) can run on every laptop win minimum 4GB memory.
cheers

Hi,
I am interested to learn ABAP.
How to install developer version of SAP along with Module SD/MM/...and dummy/trial database.
Reg
Navin
Hi Navin,
you can't get developer edition of SAP with modules SD/MM... The modules are only provided in IDES version of SAP ECC (former R/3). See what are available IDES versions here. However you need to be SAP customer or partner in order to obtain IDES legally.
cheers
